Tour Information
We’re back!

The Weird Horror Film Festival is returning for the second annual event!

At last year’s SOLD OUT festival we screened 11 short films made specifically for the festival, along with some other creepy artistic delights, for a night of celebrating and awarding weird, horror-based underground and independent cinema.

In early April this year we called out again , and more local weirdo horror fans answered the call.
13 films were made by 13 teams/individuals, many who have never made a film before...come see what they created for this years line up , along with other short weird horror films.
We are honored to be joined again by Chelsea Nichols and Aaron Lister (aka Curator of Screams) who are the judges for the awards ceremony, which is one of the highlights of the night.

We are thrilled to announce your host for both the Weird Horror Film Festival and Zombie Prom after-party will be the legendary Rachel Winter Hase.
Rachel is a world-touring performer and MC who has performed in over 18 different countries on 4 different continents. She began her career touring the USA with the travelling sideshow Pretty Things Peepshow, a highlight of which was touring Motley Crue, Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne. Subsequent to this she founded her own touring show The Death Do Us Part Danger Show and they performed all over the world, bringing the art of knife throwing kicking and screaming into the 21st century. In 2022 she debuted her solo theatre show, Gag Reflex, at NZ Fringe and won the “Best In Fringe” award. Since then she’s written two more plays and recently completed a novel on the creative writing MA at Te Herenga Waka… She also performs as half of the Dangerous Darlings, with NZ circus star Laura Oakley.

Screening on June 13th at Newtown Community Centre in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington, followed by a Zombie Prom at Moon Bar! With live musical accompaniment by - The interlopers, Blue Summer, The Beach Balls, and DJ TV DISKO.
