Tour Information
Political betrayal; disaffected youth; distant peace; walls that separate us; cynical attempts to soothe the public; the feeling of being soothed; the presence or absence of a political will... These are important aspects of our daily lives in Aotearoa that are seldom talked about.

The Hectet will present their new album, French Politics, on Thursday 9 July at Vogelmorn Bowling Club. The music contains heraldic melodies, and blends acoustic and electronic elements, to conjure forces of history and emotion.

French Politics is Hector McLachlan's third album of original music, following on from 'Here Comes The Hectet' (2025) and 'Forest Music' (2018), and he has also prepared some new compositions that will be debuted on the night. Hector's creative practice is rooted in deep listening and historical materialism, informing a varied and multi-disciplinary output.

He will be joined by a band of world class musicians:
Lily Shaw - tenor saxophone
Hector McLachlan - piano, synth
Jasper Holloway - electric guitar
Seth Boy - double bass
Abey Sparks - drums
