Tour Information
Please join Alphabethead & Grecco Romank this spring for a thrilling evening of turntablism, brutalist sewer-pop and dirty, chaotic, electronic dance music!

Alphabethead is celebrating the release of Misanthrope, his new animated music video! A collaboration with Dr D Foothead, the video presents a hunk of organic matter lying dormant in a Cronenberg-esque laboratory. As this undulating subject is fed aural and visual stimulation we marvel at its mutation and evolution in real-time...

Alongside their classics, Grecco Romank’s set may feature primordial offerings from their upcoming album ‘The Heels of The Isthmus’ to be released this year and usher in the full reign of the Antichrist.

More about the artists:

ALPHABETHEAD finds himself adrift in the musical cosmos, somewhere between the constellations of Hip Hop, Electronica and Experimental Rock. As a teenager he won the New Zealand DMC DJ Championship and this title sent him performing across the globe. Over the next twenty years he'd go on to make seven albums as Alphabethead, five albums as one third of cult genre-shredders All Seeing Hand and two records as half of the psychedelic Hip Hop duo Bad Taste. He also contributed production or turntable scratching to Home Brew, Death & The Maiden, Tourettes, and The Etymologists. His highly technical and singular approach to playing the turntable as a musical instrument has led to tours through Aotearoa, Australia, UK and China.

Now signed to Sunreturn, Alphabethead's new music is explorative electronica stemming from sound design, synthesis and manipulation of sound on vinyl. His live performances are bouncy, sweaty ordeals where the turntables are pushed to their very limit. An Alphie performance where the needle doesn’t break or fly off the vinyl and completely derailing the dance-floor is considered a miracle...

GRECCO ROMANK are Tāmaki Makaurau’s premiere purveyors of brutalist sewer-pop: stitching together opera, industrial rave, and gleefully uncommercial chaos. Formed in 2020 their world is one where high art slips in dog shit, crashes head-first into a drum machine, and emerges snarling, sweaty, and weirdly catchy. For this series of shows, Grecco will be joined onstage for vocal duties by fiercely talented and demonically popular Sean Murphy (CCTV, Boxer Priest) and Princess Paradox.

Over their decrepit six year existence Grecco have released a rapid-fire series of albums (Red Tower, Wet Exit, Arts Colony) that have dominated alternative charts, been nominated twice for Best Alternative Artist at the AMA’s, and topping the Student Radio Network’s Top 10 in 2023, all whilst refusing every expectation of commercial sense. Critics have described their music as everything from “luxuriously bogan techno” to “the rave you never want to end up at but always get dragged into.” Their live shows — part rave, part performance art, part deranged group fitness class — are infamous for their intensity.

Collaboration fuels the band: they’ve worked with Princess Chelsea, Our Carlson, Eden Burns, Lawrence Arabia, Dick Move, and dozens more, expanding their sonic universe while keeping their core chaos intact. Their 300-page Arts Colony book, now sold out, extends their world into satire, visual art, and fictional cultural history.
