Zac Hurren & Friends Live At Āto

Spring has sprung, and we’re kicking it off with two saxophones, a seriously groovy rhythm section, and a whole lot of noise.

For the 10th Private Gig of the 2026 Jazz Season, we welcome Australian saxophonist and composer Zac Hurren to Āto, alongside some very familiar faces.

Zac’s playing can go from delicate and lyrical to completely explosive in the space of a few bars. Add Iggy Nama Ruci on alto sax and suddenly we’ve got two saxophones going head-to-head in a room built for listening.

Expect big sounds, deep grooves, spontaneous turns and plenty of moments where you’ll wonder how four people are making that much noise.

Zac is currently holding down the fort at the Auckland School of Jazz while Roger Manins is away on sabbatical, so we’re very lucky to have him landing at Āto for the night.
