Released in 2006 to critical acclaim, Real Life established New York’s Joan Wasser as a distinctive voice in the international indie scene, blending soulful vocals with sophisticated, jazz-inflected arrangements. 
Joan As Police Woman and her trio will perform her classic debut album Real Life in its entirety, with fresh arrangements reflecting her Real Life Evolution album released this year. The tour will also include favourites from across her career-spanning 12 albums.

Wasser describes Real Life as the record that sparked her calling as a solo artist, and these performances offer a chance to revisit the songs that remain the foundation of her work today.

Music has always been a vital, life-sustaining force for Wasser – a devotee who describes the shared experience of a live concert as a reminder of our common humanity. 

She was most recently in New Zealand touring as keyboardist for Iggy Pop in January 2026. In May 2025 she played acclaimed shows in NZ on her Lemons, Limes and Orchids tour.
