Great North and Reb Fountain

Great North are a folk band with a bit of Bruce Springsteen-style Americana thrown in. Their last record, Up In Smoke, won a Tui for best folk album and its predecessor, Halves, did the same. Now husband-and-wife duo Hayden and Rachel Donnell are heading out to road test some songs from their as-yet-untitled next album, which theyre in the process of recording. Theyll be taking along a talented four-piece band and a newfound enthusiasm for artists like Jackson Browne, The Waterboys and John Hiatt. Things may get louder than normal.

Reb Fountain has spent 20 years travelling, performing, studying, recording and working as a musician and songwriter who’s not afraid to get her $20 ex-army boots muddy as hell walking to the next town for a show. Bent on carving her own line, Reb is easily Aoteoroa’s best kept songwriting secret.
