Fraser Ross is a builder, poet, comedian, and ‘NZ’s best-kept musical secret’ (Capital Times). He has a voice that was honed in Scotland's rowdy pubs during his three-year tenure there, and a lyrical style that can be uplifting, and at times, quite moving.

He lives in the Southern-most suburb of Wellington: Lyttelton. However, he has teamed up with highly active members of Wellington's music scene to create a four-piece comprised of: two guitars, two vocals, bass and drums. While not unusual in instrumentation they span a broad territory from electric-folk to afro-beat, with Ross's lyrics roping it all together.

Their 10-track LP was recorded in Surgery Studios, Wellington with Dr. Lee Prebble in the cockpit. It's their first release as a band, following three albums by Ross (‘And Birds Do Sing’ 2009, ‘To Places,’ 2012, and ‘Mongrels’ 2015).

Joining him for this special show at Sherwood is A. J. Hickling aka 'The Piano Busker.' AJ can often be found on the streets of Queenstown with his piano, surrounded by fans, passers-by, and awe-struck tourists. When not in Queenstown, the multi-instrumentalist travels the globe playing music.

Fraser Ross has shared the stage with some of NZ’s best including, Nadia Reid, The Nudge, The Phoenix Foundation, and has had Bill Murray join him on stage for a two-hour sing-a-long.

In 2015, he did a three-week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a comedy show he wrote called ‘Another name for Thesaurus.’

On top of this, he recently finished rebuilding a house damaged in the Christchurch Earthquakes.
