PORTAL III continues the solo recital PORTALS project. Two works by NZ composers Louisa Nicklin and Reuben Jelleyman have been commissioned for this trans-Tasman collaboration with cellist David Moran. David will be presenting works by Xenakis and Saariaho along with the two new projects.

This project has been supported by funds from Creative New Zealand.

DAVID MORAN is a Melbourne based cellist, currently studying at the Australian National Academy of Music. He completed a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Adelaide, in 2015. David is working on developing a performance practice that encompasses the entire history and sonic possibilities of the cello. He has been principal cellist of the Australian Youth Orchestra, a participant in Ensemble Offspring’s young artist residency program, curates an early music concert series in the Adelaide hills with group Continuo Continuum and has toured regularly with Momentum Ensemble.
