Metallica Supports Announced- Fear Factory, Lamb of God + More

Wednesday 11th August, 2010 10:18AM

Whoa - Metallica's NZ tour in Sept/Oct just got a whole lot heavier with the announcement of some pretty big special guests including: Fear Factory, Lamb of God, The Sword and Baroness.

Tickets for all their NZ dates are completely sold out but some Australian dates (see end of press release for dates) still have tickets and it's possible the newly announced acts will do sideshows.

PRESS RELEASE:

Brace for added metal mayhem as the ‘very special guests’ for all Australian and New Zealand Metallica dates are now confirmed!

Lining up for all September dates are Fear Factory and The Sword. Lamb of God and Baroness complete the ferocious October-November bill.

FEAR FACTORY, currently tearing through Europe with their Fear Campaign Tour, entered the metal scene with a crushing debut, 1992's Soul Of A New Machine. Combining the intensity of death metal with the harshness of industrial influence, Fear Factory set a new standard in extreme music, a standard they continue to bear to this very day. Albums include Demanufacture, Obsolete, Digimortal, Transgression and this year’s Mechanize.

THE SWORD, a retro, alternative doom metal four-piece with brutal riffs, broke out of Austin, Texas in 2003. Later this month the group release their highly-anticipated 3rd studio album Warp Riders, following on from Gods of Earth and the 2003 debut Age of Winters.

Fear Factory and The Sword will play all September dates on Metallica’s Australia-New Zealand tour.

Metal five-piece LAMB OF GOD, made their way to the top of the independent metal scene through years of hard work and touring. Six studio albums later Lamb of God have cemented their place as one of the genre’s most innovative and unrelenting bands and a name that is respected with reverence among fans and their peers alike.

Fellow US heavy-metalers BARONESS made their recording debut in 2005 with First, a three-song EP, shortly followed by Second. In 2007 Baroness released their first full-length studio album The Red Album. After touring heavily, the band returned to the studio, releasing Blue Record in 2009.

Lamb of God and Baroness open all October and November shows.
