New Zealand Music Awards 2010 Finalists Announced

The finalists for the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards were announced last night and amongst the usual suspects there were a few nice surprises including Street Chant, Homebrew and The Naked and Famous shortlisted for the new Critics Choice Award, Connan Mockasin up for Best Male Solo Artist and Phoenix Foundation cleaned up the technical awards and are nominated in five categories.

The Critics Choice award will be announced on Sept 15th at a showcase in Auckland at the Kings Arms Tavern - we're not sure if it's open to the public but if it is definitely head along and support your favs.

No finalists are announced for the Highest Selling NZ Single, the Highest Selling NZ Album, NZ On Air Radio Airplay Record of the Year and the International Achievement awards. These will be awarded at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards ceremony at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Thursday October 7.

The recipient of the New Zealand Herald Legacy Award - Shihad - will also be honoured on October 7. Shihad will also be inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
