Taite Music Prize Nominations Close This Friday

Taite Music Prize Nominations Close This Friday

Monday 17th January, 2011 2:54PM

So you released an album in 2010, the NZ Music Awards aren't quite your scene but you're keen on a bit of recognition and a helping hand, the Taite Music Prize could be just the ticket.

The annual award was launched last year in honour of music journalist Dylan Taite and it's aim is to award the artistic merit of an album, not sales, chart status, or marketing. It's open to every NZ artist who has released an album in the year of judging, 2010 in this case, and any artist/label can nominate an album for consideration (a $25 charge is applicable for non-IMNZ members). There is a cash prize and of course the recognition and media attention.

Nominations are voted on by IMNZ members and then two panels of music industry folks - click HERE for more info on the rules and judging process.

Nominations close this Friday, 21st January at 5pm. Click HERE to make a nomination (you will need supply two physical copies of the album by Friday and pay the $25 fee if applicable so don't piss around.).

The 2010 winner was Lawrence Arabia  for "Chant Darling".
