Sufjan Stevens played two shows in New Zealand this week and absolutely floored the audience with an overwhelming display of audio-visual prowess, balloons, space-costumes, dance-routines - EVERYTHING!
Touring The Age of Adz, his latest album, Sufjan created a mini-rock opera around the themes of said album and the American artist and self-proclaimed prophet Royal Robinson. Dealing with astrological and cosmic events, interplanetary communication and the fate of the world (just casually) Sufjan married lazers to planets to glow-in-the-dark everything. It was a spectacle in the truest sense, and Sean Aickin headed along to the Wellington show to catch a glimpse of the action for us.
