Record Store Day 2011 In NZ

Better start saving, it's almost that time of year again where we take a day to celebrate our local record stores. Record Store Day, a now annual affair, is happening on Saturday April 16th and Real Groovy Auckland is jumping on the bandwagon again with has another epic day planned - details below - we expect other record stores to announce their plans in the weeks to come and will update this post as details come through.

Slow Boat Records Wellington

Instore performances from APRA Silver Scroll and Taite Prize winning singer-songwriter Lawrence Arabia, which should be a real treat! We will also have a nifty duo performance from Nina and Matt from local indie faves The Family Cactus + more tbc.

And an array of exclusive Record Store Day vinyl, including (the Gods of supply and demand permitting) new and exclusive titles from Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Fleet Foxes, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix and so many more.

Real Groovy Auckland

Independent Record Store Day is back again in 2011 and it’s being celebrated at the greatest record store in New Zealand - Real Groovy Records, Queen Street, Auckland. At Real Groovy we’re celebrating all the beautiful objects that are prints of artistic creation by musicians, and celebrating the unique culture surrounding independent record stores worldwide.

- Special Celebrity DJs:
