World Cinema Showcase 2011 - Music Docos

The thirteenth annual World Cinema Showcase is almost upon us, kicking off this Friday (1st April) in Auckland, April 14th in Wellington and May 5th in Dunedin, running for two weeks in each city.

This years showcase features a couple of really great looking music documentaries of which Lemmy the movie has to be the highlight, watching the trailers and clips on youtube has never got us so amped to check out a film.

LEMMY follows metal icon Lemmy Kilmister, frontman of Motorhead, over a period of three years by first time film makers Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski. Here's the trailer followed by a brief 'making of' which is well worth a watch:



Also showing is a John Lennon documentary, LENNONNYC put together as part of the PBS American Masters series which examine the lives, works, and creative processes of America's most outstanding cultural artists. The film is based around John Lennon's time in New York and his love for the city. Here's a preview...
