Splendour In The Grass 2011 Announce Date + Rumours

Splendour In The Grass 2011 Announce Date + Rumours

Thursday 7th April, 2011 3:10PM

Now all our big festivals are over for awhile, we can only look to Australia for a bit of festival excitement and Splendour In The Grass is always good for that. Sparking a rumour mill as wild as the Big Day Out, the line-up is always hotly anticipated and speculated on and we're more than happy to jump on the bandwagon.

The line-up for this years festival is being announced next Wednesday 13th April, early morning Australian time. While of course there is nothing stopping us from heading over, the most exciting part of Splendour for us is the fall out....and already there is one band that has been accidentally confirmed via an interview that is a strong prospect....

The Kills!  They spilled the beans via an interview with Pedestrian.tv.  Having sold out their last shows here in 2009, they've got to come back right?  We love them...

Other confirmed acts (according to the artists)..

Friendly Fires - confirmed via an interview we conducted with them in relation to their new album and  have yet to post - the band member we interviewed thought we were calling from Australia and said how much he was looking forward to coming down for Splendour.

Noah & The Whale - confirmed,  well kind of - according to Street Press Australia, they wouldn't confirm the rumours but didn't deny them either saying they were definitely heading to Australia.

The Vaccines - confirmed via interview according to Triple J.

Cornershop - confirmed via twitter according to most Australian music sites.

Rumoured...

Pulp - would be amazing of course if they headed even to Australia but seems unlikely for Splendour.

Coldplay - rumoured to be co-headlinging with Pulp - making it even weaker that Pulp are actually going to be playing the festival.

Fuji Rock Festival  - happening at the end of July seems to be a popular source from which to speculate - check out the line-up here.

That's it for now - we'll post the full line-up when it's announced and will update this with any more confirmations in the lead up.  Feel free, as always,  to speculate below...
