NZOA Announces First Making Tracks Funding Grants

NZOA last night announced the first grants to made under the new Making Tracks scheme which was developed after prolonged pressure on the agency to update how it funded NZ music.

There are still some dubious choices but it does appear to be a better cross section of artists.

Here are the recipients and details of the grants,  you'll find a list of the panel members who decided on the recipients below also.


[A] Funding of up to $10,000 for each of the following 13 MakingTracks projects, comprising up to $4,000 for recording a song and $6,000 for making a music video of that same song:

• Haunted Love/Love Underwater
• Junica/And It Hurts
• Lawrence Arabia/Travelling Shoes

• Ruby Frost/Water To Ice
• Street Chant/Frail Girls
• The Earlybirds/Backseat Runner
• Transistors/Abandoned

[B] Funding of $6,000 for each of the following 20 MakingTracks projects, being funding for making a music video:

• Cairo Knife Fight/The Origins Of Slaves
• David Dallas/Postcard
• Disasteradio/Drop The Bomb
• Drew/Explosive
• Head Like A Hole/Glory Glory
• J Geek & The Geeks/You Tube Is My Girl Friend
• Kimbra/Good Intent
• MayaVanya/Hot Nights
• Mt Eden(Dubstep)/Mirage
• O’Lovely/Bright Lights
• PNC featuring Vince Harder/Be With You
• Porcelaintoy/Monsters
• Ria/All My Ladies
• The Drab Doo Riffs/I’m Depressed
• The Feelers/Dosvidanija
• The Upbeats/Diffused
• Tiny Ruins/Running Through The Night
• Tourettes/Tonight
• Unknown Mortal Orchestra/Ffunny Ffriends
