Flying Nun Announce More 30th Anniversary Shows

Tuesday 1st November, 2011 3:07PM

Today is the start of November which means a whole lotta gigs are coming your way as Flying Nun celebrates it's 30 Anniversary with 30 shows across New Zealand all in this one month - impressive!

Two more shows have been added to the tour schedule since our last announcement as well as tribute shows in Melbourne and Brisbane along with the label's latest signing, The Sharpie Crows! Here are all the details....

Press Release:

Seeing as it is our 30th Anniversary celebrations this month, it seemed fitting to make it 30 shows around the country throughout November.

New additions to the schedule include a CLOSING PARTY taking place in Wellington on Nov 30th at SFBH with The Verlaines. While, Flying Nun Records latest signing Sharpie Crows will be hosting their own ELECTION PARTY at Mighty, Mighty in Wellington on Saturday November 26. The band will also be joining the Auckland NEW NUN NIGHT this Friday, November 5 at the Kings Arms (see details below).

Plus, we have a few extra overseas shows and some more special guests to on the line-up. Including experimental noise band, the Dead C who are joining HDU in Dunedin on Friday November 18 and Pregame Heshmury and his Flying Nundertones (Graeme Humphries - Able Tasmans) will play with The Bats in Auckland on Saturday November 19. While, Popstrangers head down south to play with Shayne P. Carter and Ghost Club (Fri 18th at Dux Live & Sat 19th at Sammys).  Surf Friends join The Clean and The Subliminals in Auckland (Kings Arms, Thursday Nov 24) and Wellington (SFBH, Friday Nov 25) and T54 joins these bands in their Christchurch show (Dux Live, Sat Nov 26).  Full schedule listed below.

Melbourne’s FLYING NUN TRIBUTE NIGHT (The Workers Club, Nov 18) have added David Saunders (The 3Ds) to a line-up that already includes the likes of Love Of Diagrams, Batrider’s Sarah Mary Chadwick and more. The Changing Same (Matthew Bannister ex Sneaky Feelings) plays Hamilton’s FLYING NUN TRIBUTE NIGHT at Static Bar on Sat Nov 19 with Disco Volante, The Shrugs and Imploder. While Brisbane (The Bridge Club, Thur Nov 24) and New York (The Cakeshop, Tuesday, November 15) will also host FLYING NUN TRIBUTE shows.

As mentioned above, we are super pleased to announce Sharpie Crows as the newest addition to the Flying Nun family and you can watch their new video for 'Fifteen Golden Balls Pt 2' - watch below.

Directed by Dale Bartlett and Nelle Pearson and produced by Running Jumping Standing Still, ‘Fifteen Golden Balls Pt 2’ will be on the upcoming 'Nostalgia Kills', a Flying Nun re-release combining Sharpie Crows' previous EPs 'Greed' and 'Golf Course/Mass Grave'
