Press Release:

STRANGE NEWS are over the moon to announce a brand new Wellington venue for BEIRUT with very special guests - Tono & The Finance Company.

Saturday 14th January ~ Wellington Opera House, Wellington.

Monday 16th January ~ The Powerstation, Auckland (SOLD OUT)

We here at Strange News are relieved to announce the release of hundreds of extra tickets for the Wellington Beirut show, thanks to the kind hospitality of Wellington’s Opera House!

This Wednesday, December 14th at 9am, Ticketek will go on sale with seated tickets for the second tier - while all tickets already purchased from Slow Boat or Under the Radar will remain valid, and qualify entry into the stalls area of this extraordinary venue.

Meanwhile, we’re also very excited to announce that Beirut have hand-picked their support act for both shows: Tono and the Finance Company!

Tono and the Finance Company is anything but a timeless sounding band. They make pop music that could only exist in the information age. Its music that is loaded and specific, music that defames landlords, and sings odes to pop science and the 2000s. They place lyrics centre-stage, and probably should have been a rap group. Instead, they rely on the same musical tools that bands from the The Beatles, to Pulp, have used to express life in the modern world.
