Die! Die! Die! around the world

Die! Die! Die! around the world

Thursday 27th March, 2008 12:00PM

The rest of the world has finally had the opportunity to hear Die! Die! Die!'s acclaimed Promises Promises album (well, actually, the UK hasn't yet - but the NME just said, it's so good if it doesn't get released soon, they'll put it out themselves!).

While in the United States, not only has the release of the album landed the band bonuses like the cover of CMJ Magazine - but their current stint of live shows have the critics falling over themselves in glee - like the Artrocker review of one of their SXSW shows; peppered with adjectives like "mighty", "stunning" and "visceral", it ends climatically with reference to front man Andrew Wilson:

"(he's) like Bono at Live Aid but with a better haircut and better tunes. On this evidence (Die! Die! Die!) might be the future of rock and roll and they’re most definitely as good as it gets in the present."

After the USA Die! Die! Die! will spend April playing the UK and Australia (who yes, love the album too, so much so they are on the verge of claiming the band as their own). In mid-May the band will head around the States again, this time on a co-headlining tour with USA’s Von Bondies.

They’re coming home first, and........they're actually not touring. Returning especially for Wellington's Homegrown Festival April 26th, Die! Die! Die! will also treat Auckland's youth to an Anzac Day Bash. The rest of us, we'll have to wait til next time. Whenever that will be......
