Tapes n Tapes are a band with an edge that instantly sets them apart from the broth of US indie.
Their debut The Loon saw them shoot to fame and this new beast should see them rise even further, with an album, although more grown up, allot more detailed.
It’s a great example of what a little focus can do, and attention to detail. It’s not all roses however and some of their more experimental numbers get a bit too much on the ears (David Fridmann, what were you thinking? Running the whole mix through a distortion pedal??). I’m a big fan of all things distorted, but only if the right frequencies are smoothed.
Some absolute standout killers are the single “Hang them All” and "Say Something Back", all prove what this band is capable of.
