MUM, Sad Guy Productions, Cheese on Toast, Radio Active & the VBC88.3FM present:
DAN DEACON(Baltimore)+ HIGH PLACES (Brooklyn)

In the jumpy up and down corner, weighing in at all kinds of awesomeness, and hailing from the City of Baltimore, ladies and gentlemen we give you Dan Deacon. Most talked about for his live performances where he plays within the audience, submerged if you will… Look, just YouTube that stuffs, right now. See what I mean? He’s the guy with the glasses and the beard, right there, with the microphone and the laptop, and the synth, and all them pedals. Woo! But for serious now. The dude's got an M.A. in computer composition, and electronic things, and is super talented. He released a whole bunch of super sweet recordings independent like that you can download here: http://www.dandeacon.com/mp3/. And in 2007 he released his first “proper”album, Spiderman of the Rings which was in the Pitchfork 2007 top 50 albums of the year. And he lives in Baltimore! John Waters is from there, and Parker Posey, and Rick Ocasek, man even Frank Zappa. His new album Bromst is coming out this March and will be amazing.

In the other electronic corner, straight out of Brooklyn, New York, comes High Places. Recent signings to Thrill Jockey (think Tortoise, Trans Am, The Sea and Cake, Boredoms) High Places have, like Dan Deacon, accomplished an impressive touring schedule over the past couple of years. Yes, more super-talented individuals... I know, and as if Dan Deacon wasn’t enough! They’ve been playing with everyone from Deerhunter to No Age, Abe Vigoda, and Hawnay Troof to name but a few. Expect an expansive, expertly crafted set of well nice electronic musics. Pitchfork gave their 2008 self titled album High Places an 8.0 -they totally love them hard.

Dan Deacon + High Places play three NZ shows in February:

Wellington -Thursday 19th @ Bodega with Disasteradio and DJ Lotion
Auckland - Friday 20th @ MUM Clubnight (Cassette #9) with Golden Axe
Christchurch - Saturday 21st @ Marsupial (it's new - 150 Litchfield St)

And for only$25it’s what you might call ridonkulously, stoopidly cheap.

Tickets for all shows available on undertheradar.co.nz (as well as Real Groovy in Wellington and Fast & Loose + www.cheeseontoast.co.nz in Auckland)
