Holly Throsby brings A Loud Call to New Zealand
A Loud Call is the third album from Australian songwriter and singer, Holly Throsby. Recorded in a brick house on a leafy street in Nashville by engineer and producer Mark Nevers (Lambchop, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Andrew Bird), the album sees Holly accompanied by her long time band The Hello Tigers, plus some very special guests including Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, and members of Lambchop and Silver Jews.
Last in New Zealand back in early 2007, Holly has since toured Australia many times and has played on various tours in the UK, Europe, America and Canada, both on her own and in support of artists such as Joanna Newsom, Smog, Mark Kozelek, M. Ward, Devendra Banhart, Paul Kelly, The Eels and Low.
She now returns to New Zealand to perform songs from her new album for audiences in Wellington and Auckland.
Holly has been nominated for two Australian Recording Industry Association awards in the Best Female Artist category (in 2006 for Under the Town and in 2008 for A Loud Call) but, you know, didnt win. Apart from music she is interested in 20th century literature, political intrigue, humour, small towns, and dogs.
