Christchurch's Pavlov's Puss Drop Album 'Comfort Food'

A.K. / Friday 18th October, 2019 12:54PM

Ōtautahi troublemakers Pavlov’s Puss string together members of Salad Boys, T54, The Ruling Elite, Dance Asthmatics and The Palace of Wisdom, fronted by 'The Godfather of New Zealand Downhill' and true showman Andrew "Ox" O’Connell, who once infamously branded himself after a long night at darkroom. The Canterbury quartet have rolled out a slamming, punch-packing debut album titled Comfort Food, showcasing their glorious punky garage-rock stylings. Seasoned professional Joe Sampson’s guitar dances along with O’Connell’s poetic ramblings, whipped into shape with bass from Chris Andrews and percussion from actual ex-marching drummer Julia Van Beek. The collection, which features ‘Petty Hedonist’ also found on Melted Ice Cream’s Sickest Smashes from Arson City: Legacy Edition, was recorded in sleepy beach-side suburb New Brighton, for which the band appears to be calling for a resurgence, writing “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to discover that New Brighton’s for lovers!” Serve yourself up a heaped plate of Comfort Food and catch Pavlov's Puss celebrating their release this Saturday, with Ano Pascoe and Medal

Check out Pavlov's Puss' notably tamer than usual performance of 'Petty Hedonist’ at Christchurch mini festival Oxstock…

'Comfort Food' is out now digitally and on cassette via Melted Ice Cream.
