Support Save Our Venues - Donate Now Via UTR

C.C. / Thursday 4th June, 2020 1:43PM

We've teamed up with the Save Our Venues initiative to keep our gig culture thriving into the future, with a brand new addition to the ticketing section of our site. Now whenever you purchase a ticket for a live event via UTR, you also have the option to donate directly to Save Our Venues ($5 or more). Contributions will be distributed to campaigns in need across the 30 independently operated venues taking part in fundraisers nationwide, with over $445,000 raised so far towards a total goal of $500,000 and only two weeks before they wrap up. While live shows are thankfully starting to return under Level 2 conditions, we're nowhere near to being out of the woods yet, as our beloved venue spaces have taken a serious financial hit due to the lockdown period and desperately need your help, via both attending gigs and donating direct.

UPDATE: We're absolutely thrilled to announce we've helped thousands of dollars for Save Our Venues – huge thanks everyone for your donations and doing your bit in support of our live music community! You can continue to help Aotearoa's gig culture get back up on its feet by heading along to a live show – find out what's happening at a venue near you over on our Gig Guide.

Press release:

THANK YOU!

Because of generous donors like you, #saveourvenues, BOOSTED LIVE and MusicHelps has helped raised over $445,000 for 30 campaigns nationwide.

However, we are still calling on much-needed help from live music-loving folk! This week ten venue campaigns are due to finish - Smash Palace & The Dome (Gisborne), Totara Street (Mt Maunganui), Blue Smoke & Space Academy (Christchurch), Cassette Nine & Neck Of The Woods (Auckland), The Cabana (Napier), Dog With Two Tails (Dunedin), and Meow (Wellington) with another sixteen campaigns finishing across the next fortnight.

Not sure where to direct your hard-earned money? Click on an image below to go directly to the BOOSTED campaign that you would like to support. Or visit the Save Our Venues website, we’ve had so many enquiries from people wanting to donate to the Save Our Venues cause, but were unsure where best to spend their money - you can now donate directly to the website and the team will distribute to the campaigns most in need.

As well as that, local independent ticketing platforms Banished Music and undertheradar.co.nz are now offering a ‘donation add-on’ option to all tickets purchased throughout June, with all proceeds being directly distributed to campaigns in need. Check out the full list of shows here:

While we’re very excited to acknowledge the incredible support and recovery package the government has announced for the arts. We need our venues to survive NOW, so they can apply for those grants when they eventually become available.

As live music venues start to open up nationwide, they will need your support more than ever. Make sure you check out what's on at a live music venue near you!

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible generosity and support to date.

Arohanui, The Save Our Venues Team.
