Liz Stokes Of The Beths & Chelsea Jade Chat In 'Under Cover' Web Series

Chris Cudby / Thursday 11th June, 2020 12:07PM

Gigs are thankfully ramping back up again and now's the time to show our appreciation for the high quality and diversity our music community has to offer, along with the behind the scenes people – venue operators, promotors, sound engineers and more – who have hung in there and helped keep Aotearoa's live spaces afloat during significantly turbulent times. Co-organisers of the absolutely crucial Save Our Venues fundraising initiative, the Banished Music team have rolled out the third episode of their Under Cover: Artists in Isolation in Conversation web series of artist interviews. This time featuring an in-depth conversation re-uniting former Teacups members (and ex-flatmates) Chelsea Jade and Liz Stokes of world-beaters The Beths, Under Cover spotlights both artists catching up and sharing their reflections on the current embattled state of the world, from their respective home bases in Los Angeles and Tāmaki Makaurau.

As befitting the Under Cover tradition, the sixteen minute webisode showcases footage of both artists covering each other songs, with Chelsea Jade performing The Beth’s 'Great No One' from the 2018's Future Me Hates Me, and Liz Stokes playing Chelsea Jade’s Silver Scroll nominated single 'Laugh It Off' from her 2018 debut album Personal Best.

The Beths' new album 'Jump Rope Gazers' releases on Friday 10th July via Carpark Records.
