LAIIKA Play Pop Idols In 'Any Way You Want It' Video

Uh oh, 19 year olds are officially making SingStar nostalgia music videos and I am 100% here for it. The aforementioned teens are pop duo and BFFs Grace Moller and Heidi Simpson, whose second single as LAIIKA 'Any Way You Want It' is an infectious mish mash of 80s synth power-pop and early 2000s Veronicas angst. The video, directed by Amanda Jane Robinson and created with the support of NZ On Air, throws you into the quasi-karaoke world of Noughties fad SingStar, specifically as a duet so you can sing along with a pal to Moller and Simpson's parts. The future stars say they "wanted to play dress up" for this one, after releasing a super-sweet on-the-road vid for their last track 'Crush'. The video dips into different decades and their iconic looks, with LAIIKA cosplaying as various pop idols and rocking fashion fads that are circling back this decade.

"The looks are inspired by powerful and iconic women from each decade who were revolutionaries in fashion and music at the time. We also loved the idea of including all these different decades in the mix because we don’t want to be tied down to a certain genre, sound, or style and wanted to create something that’s eclectic yet cohesive."

LAIIKA have two hot billings on the horizon, with an appearance at massive outdoor event Outerfields in December, and a spot alongside Soaked Oats next month for Voom's Tāmaki show. Grip the deets here, and plug in that dusty old SingStar mic to fully enjoy the video for 'Any Way You Want It'...
