Watch Delaney Davidson's Video For 'Don't Walk Away From Love' - Touring In April

Lyttelton songwriting icon and NZ Arts Foundation laureate Delaney Davidson will be adding another feather to his cap with his tenth solo album Out Of My Head, launching on 22nd March via Rough Diamond Records. Treating listeners on Friday to the tender beauty of lead single 'Don't Walk Away From Love', the polymathic artist graced our Saturday with an accompanying video, co-directed with Martin Sagadin (who also handled editing and cinematography) and made with support from NZ On Air. Davidson cuts a striking figure in blood red cape, domino mask and pointy pitchfork, brighting the stark Port Hills landscape with his devilish cavorting, when not transfixed by his own reflection. These impish sequences are set against monochromatic imagery of a more solemn kind, depicting a horned Davidson sitting within a theatre of souls (filmed at The Wunderbar) pondering the dance of romance.

Performing as part of the New Years Eve Eve show on 30th December "all those waifs and strays who came home for the dreaded Christchurch," Davidson is embarking on a release tour for his new record this coming April, in collaboration with Chamber Music New Zealand’s CMNZ Series. Featuring guest contributions from Marlon Williams and Reb Fountain, Mark Perkins (Merk) on co-production, and co-writing credits including Hayley Westenra, Sam Scott, Miranda Eastern, and Williams, you can preorder Out Of My Head HERE. "Don’t Walk Away From Love, an anthem written to anyone on the brink or wondering, is based on advice I heard decades ago from a fairy in a David Lynch film. Originally this was intended as a song called “Walk Away From Love” however it somehow felt stuck. I relented on the title and pivoted, the whole mood changed and the song flowed from there. It was also going to be the album’s title track. Still might make a T-shirt."
