Odd Future Denied Entry To New Zealand

Friday 14th February, 2014 9:34AM

Immigration New Zealand has denied Odd Future entry to the country to perform at the Rapture festival tomorrow at Western Springs in Auckland. Considered a risk to public safety for their potential to incite riots, the decision is a little confusing for many no doubt given the headline act and main draw card of the festival is the often equally controversial Eminem.

A late addition to the lineup, called in to replace Kendrick Lamar, this is of course is not the first time Odd Future have run into trouble here. They were pulled from the Big Day Out 2012 lineup in 2011 after pressure from the Auckland City Council and gay rights lobbyists and their intended return had sparked similar complaints - particularly from anti-sexual violence group Stop Demand.

The news broke yesterday evening and has again received international attention.  Festival organisers are expected to make an official statement about the situation some time this morning.
