Laneway 2015 Announces Pre-Party With Iceage

Thursday 15th January, 2015 9:04AM

The organisers of Laneway 2015 have revealed that Iceagea late addition to the festival's bill, will be performing at a pre-party in Auckland the night before the main event. The Danish post-punk quartet will be bringing with them a wealth of material they have developed since forming in 2008, including tracks from their highly-regarded third album Plowing In The Field Of Love, which was released last October through Matador Records. The pre-party is strictly doorsales only and will be supported by local outfit Trust Punks. Here are the details...

Laneway 2015 is set to be bigger and bolder than ever before, and the party starts the night before the festival at Aucklandís Kings Arms on Sunday 25 January, with an inevitably crushing performance from much-buzzed Danish goth-punk-hardcore rockers Iceage.

Laneway 2015 brings the formidable swagger of these dashing young Danes into Kiwi arms for the first time. Barely beyond their teens, Iceage sharpened the teeth of their menacing sound on the Copenhagen hardcore scene. Emerging with the heavily anxious debut New Brigade, the band took an unexpected left-turn with the emotional sophomore record Youíre Nothing. Now, with 2014ís rollocking and romantic Plowing in the Field of Love, Iceage have confounded expectations once again. Recorded in a dewy forest over a few weeks and more than a few drinks, the songs elegantly disintegrate into a collection of unruly love songs rich with both promise and regret.

Tickets to see this much-touted band are an outrageously modest $35. And, because Laneway loves music-lovers, weíre offering the super-special price of $15 on the door for Laneway ticket holders. Thatís about the price of a cheap bottle of plonk, and seeing this band perform songs from their beautifully crafted sonic realm will leave you with a hangover youíll never forget. In the words of Consequence of Sound, Ďit will carve a hole somewhere deep inside youí.

The Iceage stage will be warmed by Aucklandís most youthful and abrasive, Trust Punks, and sere. Influenced by Japanese pysch, science fiction and waterboarding, sere fortify the spirit and promise tinnitus. sere formed late last year and include musicians who have previously appeared in Mean Girls, Sex Pest, Xuri Xruz & Yolanda.

But itís first in, first served, with absolutely no pre-sales -- so rush to the watering hole, and get ready to dive in deep with Laneway 2015.
