Miss June Announces 'Matriarchy' EP Release Tour

Tuesday 14th April, 2015 1:50PM

Hot on the heels of announcing the forthcoming Matriarchy EP last week, Miss June have revealed dates for a nationwide tour next month. The tour will see the four-piece start in Dunedin and work their way up the country over the course of the May, with some excellent support acts already lined up. The launch of the tour coincides with release schedule for Matriarchy, which was recorded at Munki Studios by James Goldsmith, mastered by Chris Townend, and co-produced by Andrew Wilson (Die! Die! PRESS RELEASE:

MISS JUNE MATRIARCHY EP AND TOUR!

Every now and then, that young New Zealand band comes along, and it just has that something special.

In the case of young Auckland band Miss June, there are a number of special things.

A four piece who came about by fluke, when vocalist/guitarist Annabel Liddell needed a band for a last minute gig; her instinct that jazz musicians would learn the tunes in time was spot on, and so was the chemistry. The same four artists are now on the cusp of releasing their debut EP less than a couple years after that first formidable show.

Punk/Rock/Pop it depends on the moment, what is consistent are the inspired, witty lyrics and their skilful musicianship. This inimitable combination ensures that with their live shows, Miss June are owning it. Be it their headlining spots, touring with Shonen Knife, or stadium shows supporting The Foo Fighters - they're quickly proving that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Now that energy has been captured on their debut EP, Matriarchy. Meticulously recorded by James Goldsmith and mastered by Chris Townend, with Die! Die! Die!’s Andrew Wilson being called upon for co-producing duties.

Andrew says the record has all the same elements as the band itself - “It’s intelligent, urgent, beautiful and kind of f**ked up”.

Miss June IS special. And it is the band everyone is and should be talking about.
