Mankinds atrocities and accomplishments manifested into a formidable and unforgivably evil expression of Black/Death Metal. Scaphist, inspired by the majestic past of Ancient Iran/Persia and modern extreme music brings in artistic Phrygian & Dissonant atmospheres alongside harshness, speed and aggression with lightning fast kicks, powerful vocal anthems and crushing guitar motifs to create a unique blend of black and death metal mostly unheard of in their clean green home country of New Zealand. SCAPHIST formed as a death metal side project in 2008 by founding members Phil Oli and Harry. After several lineup changes the band aquired Adam on Drums and Wynand on Guitar in late 2009. Rehearsal began early 2010 and a number of shows were played in Auckland, Hamilton & Rotorua. 'MAJESTIC SEAL OF ANTIQUITY' was released for free download March 2011. Dylan as frontman was aquired in the same month. Currently with a stable 5 piece lineup SCAPHIST is perfoming more shows and has an EP entitled 'SUNSET AQUISITION' lined up for release summer (NZ Winter) 201
