About Hollywoodfun Downstairs from Wellington
Hollywoodfun Downstairs was founded in London, England in the early months of 2008 after a chance encounter between guitarist Truk Oilywater and drummer Mike Matthews. Both with a strong passion and desire to create aggressive and likeable music began jamming together with just an acoustic guitar and a bongo drum before picking up a stand in bassist and moving on into rehearsal rooms to fine tune their sound.
After trialing a number of vocalists and bassists Truk took over on the mic, moved back to New Zealand and enticed long time friend and previous bassist Grant Gall to join the band at the end of 2008 and Mike followed suit in April 2009. This was to be the beginning of the creative machine that is Hollywoodfun Downstairs.
The band has now relocated to Wellington, New Zealand living and rehearsing together day in and day out to bring their wall of noise to a venue near you soon…
