Jinetero MC is Yonier Cuevas Vega, a Cuban Reggaeton Artist and a member of Wellington’s afro-fusion/ hip hop band, Olmecha Supreme.
His music mixes salsa and hip hop rhythms with the Jamaican influences of reggae and dancehall and is played on radios internationally.
Jinetero MCs style cuts to the edge of reggaeton bringing a raw Cuban street energy to New Zealand’s dance floors where he is predominantly based.
His narratives talk of love, street life and Cuban politics with songs such as “Please police don’t cross the line” and “Mira”, a song about having the freedom to do and say what you think. As a skilled reggaeton freestyler, his spontaneity pumps up a dance party you’ve got to see.
He has worked with legendary rapper, MC Waya, from Upper Hutt Posse and has performed reggaeton at well-known music festivals such as Soundsplash, The Uprising and Wellington’s One Love Concert
Reggaeton is straight from the streets of Puerto Rico, Cuba and other Latin American urban cultures with Jamaican influences of reggae and dancehall.
Having already performed at festivals including Parihaka, Phat, One Love and Splore, I am now organizing a tour around NZ
