The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year and marks the transition from darkness to light. To celebrate the Winter Solstice, Swell Productions in association with Radio Control presents a show that will warm your heart and inspire your soul at The Regent on Broadway. Auckland band Dimmer is headlining the show with support from Black Wings and Hoopla!. The Regent on Broadway is a beautiful theatre with exceptional acoustics and world-class production facilities.
The highlight of the night will be when Dimmer featuring Shayne Carter, former frontman for Straitjacket Fits, takes the stage. Dimmers latest album, Degrees of Existence, made it to number 2 on the NZ Herald’s best albums of 2009 and appeared on many other best-of-the-year lists. But it is on stage that Carter’s current line-up is really doing the business. Dimmer have just returned from a successful American tour that included a sold out Chris Knox benefit concert in New York.
Midwinter Swell is on Saturday, 26 June 2010. Doors open at 8.30pm and the show starts at 9pm. Tickets are on sale for $16 from The Regent on Broadway in Palmerston North, participating Ticket Direct outlets and online at www.ticketdirect.co.nz. A service fee may apply.
Swell is sponsored by Radio Control 99.4FM and Massey University Students Association.
