Ronnie James Dio (July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010) was arguably one of the godfathers of heavy metal and hard rock.
The American heavy metal vocalist and songwriter performed with Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his own band Dio. He was widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the devils horns hand gesture in metal culture.
His sad passing due to Stomach Cancer leaves the Heavy Metal world without one of its pioneers.
