Singer, musician and composer - Tamar McLeod Sinclair is one of the few solo female New Zealand artists who set out on her own to learn from other cultures and to share her music on an international level. She is currently visiting New Zealand after an intense five and a half years musical journey abroad in Europe, Israel, USA & Polynesia.
During her time overseas, Tamar has performed and sung with highly acclaimed international artists, teachers, schools and theatre companies including: Peter K Elkus (chosen by Maria Callas for one of the coveted openings of the Juilliard Opera Theatre in NYC) of L’Association Art Musique Européenne; Lisa Sokolov (front line New York jazz vocalist and teacher from The Experimental Theatre Wing in NYU and famous Czech Gypsy singer and teacher Ida Kelarova with her International School for Human Voice.
Tamar will perform her solo show around the North Island of New Zealand, before her return to Europe, in her “Return to the North Tour”, which will feature the music from her debut album “The Heart Notes”.
Tamar’s presence, her laugh, charisma and natural beauty will draw you into a rich inner landscape of the human heart. Accompanying her-self on the piano and singing her heart out, Tamar evokes deep emotions and connects in an immediate and personal way. Inspired by her Maori and Pacific Island roots, jazz education, world music interactions and soulful journeys, Tamar combines very eclectic musical styles in her programme. Singing in a variety of different languages including Te Reo Maori, Roma/Gypsy, Gaelic and Spanish, Tamar is a breathtaking international treasure not to be missed!
