Auckland Songwriters Circle Showcase

The Auckland Songwriters Circle returns with another intimate evening of original music, bringing together five distinctive local songwriters for a night of storytelling, connection, and song.

This showcase celebrates original voices across pop, country, soul, dark-pop, and indie, presented in a relaxed, attentive listening environment.

This event is proudly supported by the Auckland Council’s Creative Communities Scheme, helping introduce the community to local artists and original music.

Featuring an all-female lineup:
Jenni Smith
VÏKAE
Maddy South
Moavve
Raging Flowers

Jenni Smith
Jenni Smith is a 25-year-old pop-country singer-songwriter known for her romantic and personal songwriting. She has been part of New Zealand’s country music scene since age 12 and won Songwriter of the Year at the 2018 NZCMA Entertainer of the Year Awards.

Her 2024 single “T-Shirt” reached #3, and her most recent single “Stuck On You” peaked at #7 on the Official NZ Singles Chart. Her latest release, “Shopping,” highlights her playful storytelling, with songs ranging from heartfelt ballads to sassy, foot-stomping country pop.

VÏKAE
VÏKAE (pronounced “vee-kay”) is a Ukrainian-Kiwi dark-pop artist blending cinematic drama with raw emotional storytelling. With an honours degree in music, her work draws on both her Eastern European heritage and Aotearoa upbringing.

Her 2025 anthology DOOMSDAY COLLECTIVE is a conceptual body of work exploring personal and historical collapse, love, and loss. This performance will be a stripped-back, intimate set, offering a rare glimpse into the stories behind her music.

Maddy South
Maddy South is a soul-led singer-songwriter blending sea-shanty undertones with a raw Liverpudlian rasp. Returning to her melodic roots after years behind the scenes, her songs are shaped by a season of remembering.

Moavve
Moavve is a soulful singer-songwriter with strong jazz influences and a West End background. Her heartfelt songs are delivered with old-time charm, sharp musical instincts, and a warm, luminous voice.

Raging Flowers
Raging Flowers is an award-winning indie pop artist based in Auckland. A Chinese Kiwi songwriter, singer, guitarist, and producer, her music blends indie pop with folk-punk and jazz-blues influences, exploring difficult emotions with humour and honesty.

Before making music, she worked as a software engineer before turning to kickboxing, a journey that gave her the courage to pursue her creative dreams. Her song Tissue Paper won First Prize at Out From The Mist 2024, an international arts competition focused on mental health awareness and recovery.

Come along and experience the passion, creativity, and support of Tāmaki Makaurau’s vibrant songwriting community!
