Goldsmith Baynes
A celebration between two musical souls - singer Allana Goldsmith, and pianist Mark Baynes - who came together to bring to life Allana’s original jazz music with lyrics in Te Reo Māori.
Allana Goldsmith is a Māori contemporary jazz artist who hails from the Tairawhiti region, East Coast of the North Island of Aotearoa/NZ. Her iwi (tribes) are Ngati Porou and Ngai Tai ki Torere.
Mark Baynes is a British jazz pianist with a contemporary leaning. Mark has been lucky enough to perform alongside some giants of jazz including Eric Marienthal (Chick Corea) and Mireya Ramos (Latin GRAMMY Award Winner), the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and a Broadway cast.
Allana and Mark have performed at the Aotearoa Music Awards 2021, Wellington Jazz Festival 2022, Auckland Arts Festival 2023, Tauranga International Jazz Festival 2023, Waiheke Jazz Festival, Taste of Pasifika Festival, and Matariki Festivals across Auckland.
