“Here we are” is an assemblage of three local musicians who are strong supporters of the folk music ethic and who enjoy performing and entertaining people in that environment. We play a variety of styles – anything that can be played with a guitar, banjo and mandolin is fair game, and we all sing as well.
Steve Stern is well known as President of the Christchurch Folk Club and can frequently be seen performing and doing the sound at the Folk Club. He is a member of the Port Hillbillies and attendee at the Christchurch Old Timey sessions. Steve plays banjo, fiddle, guitar and also sings.
Russell Gillies is a life member of the Christchurch Folk Club, and past-President of both the Christchurch Folk Club and the Canterbury Folk Festival. He is also well known for his skill on the sound desk. He enjoys playing for ceilidhs, dances, sessions and folk club performances. He is a long-time contributor to the Monday night session at the Pegasus Arms in ChCh.
David Evison is a regular performer at Christchurch Folk Club events, and a member of the Jamesons, a long-standing Christchurch band which plays every Tuesday night at the Bog Irish bar. He also regularly joins sessions at the Pegasus Arms and the Little Fiddle.
