Jangle darlings Cowboy Dan have been treating audiences across the motu to energetic, emotionally charged tunes since 2015. Their live shows have consistently delivered good times to fans and new friends alike.
Hitting the road with some new tunes bursting out, Cowboy Dan also continue to celebrate the release of their 2025 debut album, about which Under the Radar said: the Tāmaki Makaurau collective reemerged with eleven sparkling and assured new songs, bundled together as Dreams That Feel Like Falling. Balancing from-the-heart poetic reflections with power-pop / college rock oomph and a jangly love for melody reminiscent at times of R.E.M (a refreshingly rare touchstone at the moment) and such fabled Flying Nun combos as The Bats and J.P.S.E, their debut album feels lovingly crafted and joyously executed.
Napier - Ahuriri - Friday 10 July at Paisley Stage with YesYesNO and Mon Shelford
For the very first time Cowboy Dan come Jangling into Ahuriri, with support from two wonderful local artists:
YesYesNo: Local noise merchants YesYesNo offer an irreverent take on what's really going on. More guitars than sense and raised on a steady diet of Lo-Fi, 70's Punk, New Wave and the Magic Roundabout. A beautiful blender of Indie Rock, Power Pop and Garage Bop. Songs more catchy than the plague Zissy Chestroger
Mon Shelford: Sorceress of Sound and Soul. Mon is a proudly multicultural woman, a spokesperson of spirit who possesses the ability to speak fluently and directly to the soul via song.
Not only gifted with a voice that transcends the need for lyrical content, Mon skilfully crafts her songs eloquently, with messages - stories that are worth listening to.
