Winter is upon us like a party popper in the hands of a 10 year old, but friends, please, don’t listen to the small talk (“man, winter is really here isn’t it?”) Ignore the ice on your windscreen, gently acknowledge the three mink blankets on the bed…Frankie and The Teardrops have the ultimate winter cure for you!
Denim Daze is a show for the glory days, the sun setting on a violent Canterbury beach, the sound of distant fireworks in the park. Frankie and her crew are bringing it all back for one toasty night at Darkroom, cloaked in our favourite all rounder. A faded, ripped, two tone, ass-on-display, circulation reducing tuxedo, Denim Daze.
Frankie and the Teardrops are honoured to have Maximum Wage warm up the stage for us!
Maximum Wage (Ōtautahi, Christchurch) harnesses song-writer Charlotte’s playful rage at the general current State of It with evocative, elevator-punk bangers about friendship, jobs, dogs, wedding rants and the environmental decline of the Waitaha Canterbury plains. It’s angry, but in a fun way. It’s Blondie, but with a brunette and a rural kiwi accent. It’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but more like Nah Nah Nahs.
