After a sold out debut night, Kāwai Sound System is back!
For round two of the Whenua Step series, we're linking up with the legendary Ōhinehou crew, Roots Fire Sound, for a sound system session celebrating the sounds and traditions of Jamaican sound system culture within Aotearoa.
This night brings together two generations of sound system. Roots Fire carrying decades of mātauranga and experience, alongside the fresh energy and curiosity of the Kāwai crew as we continue finding our place in the culture.
Expect deep roots, reggae, dub, good people and big sound. More than anything, this is about bringing together the community that keeps sound system culture alive in Te Waipounamu, from the crews who paved the way to those carrying it forward.
Parts, people, music, boxes, skanking, kōrero and connection. Two crews from different ends of the journey, sharing the same dancefloor.
