Welcome to July Songwriters' Saturday at https://therealm.co.nz/

We have another exciting evening of homegrown music planned for your enjoyment. Things kick off at 6.30 p.m. with the first of three acts. Your host venue, The Realm, is fully seated, with Bar and Restaurant facilities available and is close to bus services. Reservations can be made online or by phone.

Parking is free and, on the street, with easy access from the front of the building. The music ends around 9 o'clock.

About the Artists:

Stephen Hill is a songwriter based in Lower Hutt in Aotearoa New Zealand. Born and raised in Ireland he moved to Wellington in 2008. Stephen performs his folksy songs with an understated delivery but keen pop sensibility, weaving landscapes and emotions with an eye for detail and a refreshing turn of phrase. Inspired by Irish songwriters like Damien Dempsey and Iain Archer, as well as local artists like Delaney Davidson and international heavyweights like Nick Cave and Steve Earle, Stephen’s style is alternately light and dark, silly and serious, calm yet entertaining.

Janine Mitchell is a singer songwriter who performs heartfelt songs in the sixties and seventies era folk tradition. Her writing style often reflects, and is inspired by, folk singers such as Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel. With her guitar accompaniment and fine lyrical vocals, she sings and writes from the heart, crossing the borders of social, personal and environmental territories.

The Grey Dog band comprises four wizened hamsters who bravely continue to run on the Eternal Wheel of Attrition. Their music is like clear mountain streams, like balm after the cut and thrust of battle, like the sinuous dance of the cobra, like the cold laughter of the galaxies. They have friends in high and low places, so if you don’t like their songs - it’s probably best not to say so.
They are John Broadbent – vocals, guitar and harmonica, Martyn Parlane – vocals and guitar, Graeme “Grey Dog” Sullivan – bass and vocals and Greg Bates - drums.

Organized by Rachel Hird
