For the first time at CJC, the Miro Holland Group will be bringing their original music and performance from Pōneke down to Tāmaki Makaurau.
The band, having all grown up together, learnt music together; they've got a unique sound and flourishing attitude. Now all out of youth, each member of the band has become one of Aotearoa's most in demand cats in each of their respective instruments.
With numerous projects headlining festivals around Aotearoa, selling out venues across the country, and collaborations on internationally acclaimed albums - they have each cemented their status as the cats from this next generation to become a part of Aotearoa's long standing tradition of great musicians.
Off the back of the release of the group's debut album 'Fruit from the Family Tree', demand for frequent performance is establishing this particular voice and Miro's melodic theory as one of the premier musical outputs of Aotearoa.
The music centers around the concept of mnemonic memory- and is written as tribute or in gift to the friends and family in Miro's life. With the introduction of top local pianist Michael Nash, and the continuing residency of Iggy Nama Ruci, Tāmaki Makaurau's own saxophone colossus, Miro Thought it fitting to write new music as tribute to Tāmaki Makaurau. It will debut here.
Come and hear new music about life here. Come and hear the new music from Pōneke.
