Acoustic Cajun blues — what happens between these seasoned performers is very special. It started as a few tunes around a Kapiti kitchen table belonging to someone who once fed half the city very well. Those sessions grew into a repertoire that moves between cajun rhythm, blues, country roots tradition — music that sounds a lot like three musicians having fun.
Pip Payne His musical hats include: blues club founder, bandleader, vocalist, swing aficionado, roots gospel devotee and slide guitarist. He doesn’t just play, he inhabits his music.
Richard Klein is a fiddler and vocalist from Orange, New Jersey - through to the UK and into France, where Cajun music reached out. Wellington-based since 1997, he founded the city's beloved Americana jam sessions and has played with the Le Blanc Brothers Cajun Band and Kiwi outfit T-Bone.
Al Norman brings the accordion, and a snare to the groove. A fixture on the NZ music scene, he's a member of The Warratahs, and has played with bands including Smokeshop, the Laura Collins Band and is currently in the Rag Poets and Bergin, Kerr & Norman.
What a night this will be!! A slide guitar, a fiddle, an accordion and snare drum. Stripped back gold. Consider booking early for this concert as seats are limited to the living room. $25 pp cash at the door, byo drink, tea/coffee provided and a small contribution to supper please.
