Three distinct voices from the indie, punk and alternative underground come together at Dead Witch upstairs at Ding Dong Lounge on Saturday 5 September, with Noah Nite, Castlegarden and JC Kirwan (Small Disasters) bringing three very different takes on guitar-driven music.
Noah Nite bring melodic indie rock with energetic guitar riffs, catchy hooks and introspective lyrics. Formed in Tāmaki Makaurau in 2024, the three-piece won the 2025 Ding Dong Lounge Band Competition before releasing their debut album, Poorly Dressed Lovely People, in July 2026. Drawing from the likes of the Pixies, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, their live sound combines sharp guitar work with plenty of raw energy and melodic charm.
Castlegarden take things somewhere darker and more psychedelic, blending post-punk, psychedelic rock and progressive rock into a sound built around psych-soaked guitars, fried solos, surf-rock touches and unexpected shifts. Their shared, meandering vocals and dark grooves make for a suitably unpredictable live set.
Rounding out the bill is JC Kirwan of Gainesville, Florida punk outfit Small Disasters, performing solo for this special Auckland show. A veteran of Gainesville's underground punk scene, Kirwan brings the raw, direct energy of the Florida punk underground to Dead Witch for a stripped-back solo set.
Three acts. Three different approaches to guitar music. One night upstairs at Dead Witch.
