Wellington favourites simple ∞ animal are set to light up Meow on 21 November with their signature mix of raw emotion, funky rhythms, and irresistible energy.
Featuring many musicians who have long been at the heart of the capital’s music scene, simple ∞ animal has roots in bands such as The Hulamen, funk outfit The Tombolas, and the Holidaymakers, best known for their chart-topping single ‘Sweet Lovers’.
Singer/songwriter John McDougall has kept on writing and recording, and he has penned a fabulous set of 14 new songs for the new album. “It includes songs of heartache, protest, love, and some really silly songs. Songs that reflect the wide, wild, and weird lives we live.”
John is joined by powerhouse vocalist Annie Ruddock, keyboard maestro John Niland, guitarist Steve Jessup, bassman Murray Costello, and drum supremo Tim Robinson. Their other bands have included Rough Justice, the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra, Shadowblasters, The Brainchilds, The Mockers, and Let’s Planet.
“We’re really looking forward to our album release party, and to having Sam Ford & Trudi Green and the Soulahula Band as our special guests” says McDougall.
