After a successful show at Ophir Hall last spring, ‘Women of Song’ is coming to Central Stories this October.
Set against the rugged beauty of Central Otago, four singer-songwriters come together for an evening celebrating the women in song. Having graced stages internationally and throughout NZ, join us for an evening of songs and storytelling.
Meet the Artists:
Nia Isabella is a rising country artist whose music blends the soul of country with the strength of her classical roots. After spending the past year diving deep into the music industry, she’s ready to remake her debut as a country singer and songwriter. Having taken the stage at the Omakau A&P Show, Wanaka A&P Show and Wanaka Rodeo, Nia is earning a reputation for her warm stage presence and honest storytelling. With her unique blend of heartfelt lyrics and dynamic sound, Nia Isabella is carving out her place as one of country music’s most refreshing new voices.
Just Janie grew up writing songs beneath the Hawkdun ranges. Fresh off a nationwide tour supporting her debut album ‘Mythology of the Girls’, she is bringing her songs home. Rolling Stone wrote; “Aotearoa folk music has a new, ambitious star in Otago-born singer-songwriter Just Janie’(2026). Blending folk-rock, with introspective lyrics and crisp melodies, Just Janie ‘made me laugh, cry and fall in love on the first song’ - David Milligan, Ōtautahi.
Canadian musician Amy Storry McNally will mesmerise you with her folk-roots sound. Growing up with homegrown musical influences from her family she has soaked up generations of talent. Family has played a wholesome part of the type of artist she has become. Amy has performed locally and nationally as a solo act, a duo, or with a band – giving her a rich and adaptable musical style that is widely cherished by audiences. She has performed at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Winnipeg and Brandon LGBTQ Pride Festivals, Clyde Wine & Food Festival and on multiple occasions at various other venues and festivals in Canada and New Zealand.
Originally from the UK, Gilly has supported Van Morrison, Gene Pitney, The Hollies to name a few and has performed in almost every major venue in the UK. Gilly was signed to a major record label at the tender age of 16 and has had success with singles and albums in the UK. She came to NZ after a successful month touring in Australia and in New Zealand, has appeared at Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch folk festivals along with many more notable events.
