FANTAILS deliver a refreshing blast of fast politically motivated punk with dig-able pop leanings, masked with some heaviness and enhanced by lyrics sung in English, Maori and French. Originally a two-piece known as Sarsha and Charlie, they released their debut album Shake Your Tail Feather in 2011, before adding Na on Bass to round out the sound. A relentless gigging machine, they’ve played numerous shows in Wellington and Gisborne and toured the south island earlier this year. Their latest release “Matariki Mayhem” was recorded during the winter solstice of 2012.
FLIT NINTRON evolved from Flight 19, re-emerged to begin building a machine that would carry them to infinity and beyond. In 2012 they began a race against time, working on an album to save the world. What is Flit Nintron' When you buy an iPhone and step outside... that's Flit Nintron. When you can't sleep at night because your pillow speaks to you... that's Flit Nintron. When you misplace your shoes... that's just carelessness. Flit Nintron is the family friendly fun-core band next door, despite having progressive rock and jazz undertones.
INTO ORBIT are an instrumental rock duo from Wellington, notable for their heavy use of guitar loops and their varied song dynamics which include soundscapes, creeping build-ups, elaborate rhythms, and heavy, energetic crescendos. Formed in early 2013, guitarist Paul Stewart and drummer Ian Moir have performed a handful of very well-received shows, recently released a rehearsal video Corridors… Caverns, and have begun recording a full length album expected to be released in late 2013.
HOLLYWOODFUN DOWNSTAIRS was founded in London in early 2008, ending up in Wellington in 2011. They released their debut EP So Post Modern in 2012 and made numerous appearances around the north island before recently releasing their debut album “The Mancunian Swing”. Complete with tracks that deal with booze, brawls and barbiturates (and stronger, as the listener lets the album course through their system); be it the psychedelic, robot-rock of singles “Colours of Soho” and “Fuzzy” or the anthematic album opener “Is The City'” Live, these guys deliver an intense live experience.
CLAEMUS are here to slap your shit! Hailing from the Hutt, this talented four piece feature a twin guitar attack of ambient progressive rock. Claemus recently won a heavily contested Battle of the Bands in Lower Hutt and sensibly invested the prize money into some nice new amps. Expect to hear a lot more from this tight talented crew.
VANILLA MOOSE will treat your ears to some scrumptious jams. These Hutt sludge metalers are affectionately known as “the mighty moose” and will cleanse your souls - if you let them!
