Returning for this one-off performance, New York-based Andrew Keoghan previews songs from his newly completed second album, which combines carefully arranged baroque pop, electronic and rock elements, with songs sometimes delicate and sparse, other times layered and orchestral.
Joined by drummer Chris O'Connor (Phoenix Foundation) and instrumentalists Jol Mulholland and Matthias Jordan (Dictaphone Blues, Pluto), along with some very special guests, this promises to be an evening not to be missed.
Keoghan's 2011 debut Arctic Tales Divide, was nominated for the Taite Prize and named The New Zealand Herald’s Top Local Album that year.
A classically trained singer and arranger, Keoghan worked closely with Lawrence Arabia on the string elements for his 2012 release, The Sparrow and The Ruby Suns’ Christopher. Last year Keoghan relocated to New York, to produce his sophomore LP, due for release mid-2014.
'New Zealand's Andrew Keoghan strikes an engaging midpoint between folk and pop… Expect plenty of plucked violin strings, nimble instrumentation and pretty melodies'.
-Timeout, New York
'On the night he swapped between mediums with such ease, it was hard not to be impressed by his raw talent'
- Broadsheet, Melbourne
